Anti-money laundering - one step closer the final approval agreement

On the 12 and 13 February 2024, the texts of the provisional political agreements were presented and approved by the Member States representatives in the Committee of Permanent Representatives ("COREPER"). The agreements comprise a Regulation on the prevention of the use of the financial system for the purposes of money laundering and terrorist financing (the "EU Single Rulebook") and the sixth (6th) Anti-Money Laundering Directive ("AMLD6").

Based on the Commission's proposals, AMLD6 will be required to be transposed by Member States within two years of its entry into force and the EU AML Single Rulebook will apply after three years from its entry into force.

The AMLR text is available here. The AMLD6 is available here.
