FEBIS Selected to Join the AI Act Advisory Forum: Bringing the Voice of Business Information Providers to Europe's AI Governance

FEBIS is pleased to announce its appointment as a member of the AI Act Advisory Forum, a key stakeholder body established under the European Union's AI Act to support the implementation of Europe's new framework for trustworthy artificial intelligence.

The European Commission has designated Carlos Ollero from our member company INFORMA as the expert representing FEBIS within the Forum. Through this appointment, FEBIS will contribute with the perspective and expertise of Europe's business information providers to discussions on the practical implementation of the AI Act and the future of AI governance in Europe.

What is the AI Act Advisory Forum?

The AI Act Advisory Forum is one of the governance structures established under the EU AI Act. It brings together representatives from industry, SMEs, academia, civil society organisations, consumer groups, standardisation bodies and other relevant stakeholders to provide independent expertise and practical insights to the European Commission and the AI Office.

The Forum serves as a platform for dialogue between policymakers and stakeholders, helping to identify implementation challenges, emerging trends and opportunities related to artificial intelligence. Its objective is to ensure that the application of the AI Act remains effective, balanced and informed by real-world experience across different sectors of the economy.

Why FEBIS' Participation Matters

FEBIS represents organisations that play a crucial role in promoting transparency, trust, compliance and informed decision-making throughout the European economy.

The business information sector is closely connected to many of the issues that will shape the future of AI governance, including data quality, transparency, accountability, risk assessment and responsible use of information.

By participating in the Advisory Forum, FEBIS will contribute expertise on:

  •  The importance of trustworthy and high-quality business data in AI ecosystems;
  •  Transparency and accountability in AI-supported decision-making;
  •  Data governance and responsible data use;
  •  Compliance, due diligence and risk management considerations;
  •  The impact of AI regulation on business information providers and their clients.

 Through the participation of Carlos Ollero as FEBIS' designated representative, our Federation will ensure that the experience and expertise of the business information sector are reflected in discussions on the implementation of the AI Act.

Supporting Trustworthy AI in Europe

The AI Act represents a significant milestone in Europe's ambition to foster innovation while safeguarding fundamental rights and strengthening trust in artificial intelligence.

FEBIS welcomes the opportunity to contribute to this objective through the AI Act Advisory Forum. Working alongside fellow stakeholders and European institutions, our Federation looks forward to supporting the development of practical and effective approaches to AI governance that benefit businesses, public authorities and citizens across Europe.

We thank the European Commission for the confidence placed in FEBIS and look forward to actively contributing to the successful implementation of the AI Act.
