View and understand the new SCHUFA Score online via the app or website // The new SCHUFA Score replaces the Basic Score for all consumers // Banks and other companies will switch over gradually by the end of 2028
Wiesbaden, 17 March 2026 – The new SCHUFA Score, the world’s first fully transparent score, is now available to consumers. It can be viewed in the new SCHUFA app, in the SCHUFA subscription products (meineSCHUFA.de), in the bonify app and in the data copy pursuant to Article 15 of the GDPR. The Basic Score, which SCHUFA has provided to people since 2008 as a cross-sector benchmark for personal information, is now a thing of the past.
SCHUFA Account: Digital access to all personal credit data
All consumers can view their credit-related data stored with SCHUFA digitally at any time via the new SCHUFA Account: via a web application at app.schufa.de or the new SCHUFA app (iOS/Android). Registration is free of charge and can be completed by verifying your identity using an identity card with an online ID function (eID) or via a PIN letter sent by post. From now on, consumers can also view the new SCHUFA Score digitally at any time in the new SCHUFA Account – including explanations of how their personal score is calculated. The data stored by SCHUFA for each individual, as well as the new SCHUFA Score, are updated at the start of each new quarter.
Looking ahead, SCHUFA will gradually integrate further services into the new SCHUFA account, such as free notifications for first-time negative entries and the fee-based meineSCHUFA subscriptions.
Transparent credit rating – explained clearly
SCHUFA has completely rethought its scoring system. The calculation of the new SCHUFA score is now based on just twelve easy-to-understand criteria. A points system shows how much weight each criterion carries – so you can even calculate your own score yourself, without any statistical knowledge. This makes the new score, with all the information on its criteria and their weighting, completely transparent.
“With the new score in the SCHUFA account, consumers can view the data stored about them at SCHUFA and calculate their score themselves, free of charge and online, at any time,” says Tanja Birkholz, Chair of the SCHUFA Executive Board. “This marks the completion of the first phase of our reorganisation and fulfils one of our key promises. After
all, transparency, traceability and data control are particularly important to us for the new SCHUFA.”
Introduction for businesses: transition phase until the end of 2028
SCHUFA’s corporate customers have been able to test and use the new SCHUFA Score since April 2025. Like its predecessors, the new SCHUFA Score demonstrates high predictive accuracy. This is also confirmed by the tests carried out by corporate customers. It also meets all regulatory requirements and supports companies in open and trust-building communication with their customers, as for the first time consumers and companies see the
same score.
The new score replaces the six sector-specific scores for banks, savings banks, cooperative banks, telecommunications, retail and mail order/e-commerce. Currently, around 25 per cent of companies that previously used SCHUFA’s sector-specific scores are already using the new SCHUFA score. In addition to banks, these include, in particular, retail, mail order and ecommerce companies. Eight of the 100 largest score customers are also already using the new score. By the end of 2026, around 50 per cent of all customers and 25 of the top 100 customers will be using the new score.
Further companies have already planned the transition to the new SCHUFA Score, but have not yet implemented it. For banks, a transition is generally only possible after notification and approval by the relevant banking supervisory authority. To enable companies to make an orderly transition, SCHUFA has therefore set a transition period until the end of 2028.
