Approved the draft report on the proposal for a Late Payments regulation

On 20th March, the European Parliament's Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO) approved the draft report on the proposal for a Late Payments regulation (LPR).

The report was adopted with 33 votes in favour, 10 against and two abstentions. As discussed with the Rapporteur at the European Parliament, FEBIS welcomes the inclusion of Art 17 of the proposed regulation, prompting that “Member States shall ensure that credit management tools and financial literacy training are available and accessible to small and medium sized enterprises, including on the use of digital tools for timely payments “.

FEBIS Members support this initiative and are of the opinion that business information providers can greatly contribute in fostering efficient credit management and financial literacy education towards SMEs, for example through the initiative developed by the EU Stakeholder Forum on Late Payments in which FEBIS takes part regularly.
