In 2020, the only legislative movement in Spain has been the approval to initiate the modification of the Law against Defaults of Payments in the plenary of the Congress of Deputies. This change could lead to the creation of a sanctions regime that has remained frozen since 2017, when the law amendment was approved.
At a European level, the European Commission organised a business meeting that year to evaluate the possibility of creating a European payment observatory, a fundamental tool to appreciate the impact of implementing the legislation.
