Rebuilding Trust Through Access, Coordination, and Strategy

On June 25, 2025, FEBIS President, Gertjan Kaart, delivered a keynote address at the European Parliament during our event “Towards a Harmonised AML Framework in the EU to Strengthen Financial Crime Prevention.”

The event, co-organised with our industry partner DT4C Alliance, brought together a strong mix of policymakers, regulatory experts, and industry representatives. It featured a lively panel discussion and a productive networking reception - opening the door for continued dialogue and further advocacy by FEBIS.

In today’s global markets, fragmented access and inconsistent rules create information asymmetries. This makes our Single Market less efficient and more vulnerable to fraud and money laundering.” — Gertjan Kaart

In his speech, our President stressed the urgency of harmonising AML regulations across Member States and the critical role of data access and coordination in stopping financial crime. Drawing on the long-standing experience of business information providers, he highlighted how smart regulation, real-time infrastructure, and cross-border alignment are essential to rebuilding trust and strengthening enforcement.
